A different way to explore

Rendering Reality begins with a scan of your own room, then opens into worlds beyond it. The preview is a chance to step inside the work, spend time with it, and tell us what you notice.

You don’t need a background in VR. Start with curiosity. We welcome people from every discipline, and our team reads each application and follows up personally.

How the preview works

  1. Apply

    Tell us a little about yourself, your setup, and what draws you to Rendering Reality.

  2. Get set up

    If we can include you in this round, we’ll be in touch to set up a short call. Then we’ll send you a private download link for your headset, or ship a loaner with the experience already installed (loaners are available in the US only).

  3. Experience it at home

    Take your time with the chapters that are ready now, The Doors of Perception and The Beach, in your own space, with a month to explore.

  4. Share what you noticed

    We’ll talk again afterwards about your experience. What you notice helps shape the chapters still to come.

What you’ll need

  • A Meta Quest 3, Quest 3S, or Quest Pro. If you’re in the US and don’t have one, we can lend you one.
  • A comfortable seat in a room you’re happy to scan. Rendering Reality is a seated experience, so you won’t need much space.
  • Time to come back to it over a month, plus two short calls with our team.
  • You must be 18 or older.
  • The preview is free of charge. For a loaned headset, we ask for a refundable $500 deposit and for the shipping costs in each direction. The deposit is returned in full once the headset is back with us.
